Sound is invisible, yet it’s what has the most impact. The bass in your favorite song, the laughter of a friend. It changes how we feel, even if we don’t consciously notice it.
For us, appreciating the understated is not new, and for this and other peculiarities, we’ve always been captivated by sound. We’ve explored every possible way to carry meaning beyond what we hear. From immersive events with experimental artists to speaker collaborations, sound has long been a point of fascination. For AW26, this fascination became “CYMATICS”, a collection inspired by the visual language of sound itself.
What is cymatics?
It’s how vibrations become visible patterns. Every sound can be broken down into measurable vibrations, known as megahertz, and when these frequencies interact with a receptive medium, they form patterns.
Imagine sand on a flat surface, vibrating with these waves. Shapes come through, and something as intangible as sound gains physical form. Curves, spikes, ripples, each unique to the sound that creates it. These ephemeral shapes became the blueprint for the collection, guiding silhouettes, layers, and textures.
“CYMATICS” explores sound across multiple dimensions: ripples in water, the shockwave of a jet breaking the sound barrier, the pitch of a tuning fork. All became inspiration to turn the perception of sound into something material, something tangible.
