The inherently random patterns seen in natural systems, can through the work of Alan Turing’s mathematical and technical approach be described with mathematical models, to understand and predict nature’s patterns. In the SS24 collection ‘ THE CHEMICAL BASIS OF MORPHOGENESIS’ this relationship is explored in the ‘MORPHOGENS’ series showcasing a laser cut pattern in signature HELIOT EMIL technical styles.
This seemingly random pattern consists of singular lasercut H’s which has been developed by reversing the same technique used by Alan Turing to understand the patterns of morphogenesis. This results in a controlled yet visually random pattern that due to the repetition of the H’s in movement, stretches to reveal the subject underneath.
The ‘MORPHOGENS’ series introduces new styles which take on the characteristic laser cut treatment in all different silhouettes.
