Today, the world is moving fast toward reducing waste: saving energy, rethinking materials, cutting down on pollution. Huge steps have been taken, pushing industries to move away from fossil fuels, like renewable energy, solar panels, wind power. But even in these innovations there are setbacks.
Take electric cars, for example. While they’re seen as eco-friendly, their production creates a hidden waste problem: battery separators, discarded due to minor flaws and then burned, harming the environment.
Not to sound boring, but maybe we should give a bit of context. Basically, a battery separator is a thin microporous film inside the battery that makes the magic happen by letting lithium ions move freely, enabling the flow of current. The tricky part? Their composition makes them hard to recycle, so most of the time, they just get burned away.
That’s where TEXNIC steps in and, honestly, we value anyone ready to take on a challenge. TEXNIC is a recycled material made from those discarded battery separators, still full of potential, just overlooked. This high-performance material gets a second chance, turning waste into a resource while keeping all its original strength and function intact. Since the material is microporous, it’s breathable yet blocks water droplets, making it waterproof.
For us, however, it’s more than just recycling. It’s about giving new purpose to an innovative material with a unique texture, thinking outside the box and turning it into something new.
In our AW25 collection, we’re introducing a range of five pieces made in collaboration with TEXNIC: a jacket, vest, and pair of trousers for menswear, and a column skirt with a cinched jacket for womenswear. All the items will be released in our signature black and the seasonal color Dark Grey.
There’s this misconception that performance clothing needs to look a certain way because of its functionality. But one of our missions is to make innovation in design truly interesting and relevant. Clothes don’t have to look overly utilitarian to be waterproof. Technical wear can be an elevated uniform. And we’re working on that, on creating that perfect middle ground between practicality, elegance, and consciousness.
