At HELIOT EMIL, we like to challenge the way people experience things. We continue to explore the intersection of form and function through our tech-driven design language. Naturally, we had to apply it to music. That’s why we’re introducing a new collaborative release.
STEM PLAYER pushes the boundaries of music interaction, allowing users to deconstruct and remix audio in real time. Both HELIOT EMIL and STEM share a habit of reframing utility as a tool for self-expression, so this collaboration was meant to be.
We presented the collaboration during 3 Days of Design, a fitting moment to celebrate creativity and design. And because we believe music is meant to be shared, we hosted an event in our Copenhagen studio where the centerpiece was an immersive installation combining sound, performance, and the STEM PLAYER.
The space became a sensory field, where all the senses were numbed, except the one that matters most: hearing. To activate the installation, Louis Carnell performed a live set, extending the collaboration through sound. Known for his experimental approach to composition and atmosphere, Carnell used the STEM PLAYER in real time, building and dismantling layers of audio.
To further convey this focus on sound and sensory awareness, guests received complimentary earplugs presented in a custom HELIOT EMIL case.
This release taps into something deeper than design or music. It’s about interaction.
About breaking down what we’re given and reshaping it with our own hands.
