We’ve become numb to how much we see.
Meals eaten on autopilot. Music heard but never really listened to. Names shuffled on streaming platforms with no intention behind them. Ignoring how all of this makes us feel.
Four Tet did something curious. He built a hidden corner of Spotify, renaming his songs under wingdings. He didn’t want people to just look up his name and hit shuffle, he wanted listeners who chose to be there, in that exact moment.
That’s how we see HELIOT EMIL. We’re not building for the masses, we’re building for those who choose to pay attention. So we created SOUNDSCAPES, a series of playlists people actually had to search for. Not playlists lost in the vast, nonchalant algorithm of binge listening, but ones with names you had to look for, curated to make you notice things.
